ARE YOU LOOKING TO RELOCATE?
OVERVIEW
The people of Skiatook have long known what a great place Skiatook is to live and do business here.
HISTORY
Nestled in the Osage Hills, Skiatook was first established as a trading post in the Cherokee Nation,
Indian Territory. Cherokee Chief William C. Rogers founded the trading post south of Bird Creek at a
point where the stream was formed.
Today Skiatook blends many lifestyles into one.
The business person, the rancher, the oil field worker, sportsman, farmer and teacher all interact to
create a pleasant community-a community with a hometown atmosphere where you will get a tip of the hat,
a passing wave, and friendly faces cheering for the hometown team.
Shopping in Skiatook ranges from a farmer’s market to an antique mall. One of the biggest attractions
in the area is the beautiful, clear water of Skiatook Lake. The popular lake is the essence of relaxation,
with beaches and other areas designated for fishing and water sports. Near the lake is the Healing Rock,
considered by Native Americans to be a special place of healing. The city also offers an 9-hole Golf Course
and a Skiatook Historical Museum. The City of Skiatook hosts “Fantasy in the Sky” each 3rd of July, at the
Skiatook Municipal Airport. The City and Chamber host an annual Pioneer Day Festival in September, which
includes: a “5k” Run, a Parade, Car Show, Amusement Rides, Pet Contest, Chili cook-off, Arts and Crafts, Horseshoes, Cornhole Tournaments, Fishing Derby, Food Trucks, Free Concert.
